I’m a museum professional with a passion for collections management.  I am particularly interested in exploring the intersection of modern technology and museum collections.  I graduated cum laude from the College of William & Mary with a B.A. in history and linguistics as well a certificate in public history, and I will be completing an M.A. in museum studies in May 2025.

Experience

Private Cataloging

I am currently cataloging a private collection consisting mostly of European ceramics.  I am responsible for photographing, measuring, and researching the provenance of each of the 500+ objects.  At the end of this project I will have created a searchable database for private use.

Collections Intern at
Green Spring Gardens

Green Spring Gardens is a small, community-focused historic house museum and garden located outside

of Washington, D.C.  While there, I researched records of several of the house's enslaved people, aided in deaccessioning several collections objects, and wrote and delivered a presentation on the house's history

to the museum's volunteer docents.

Collections Intern at
Winterthur Museum, Garden and Library

I worked with several curators at Winterthur, researching the history of corner chairs and cataloging new acquisitions.  I also completed a self-led research project focused on a 1940s era rumor that H.F. DuPont, the museum’s initial owner, used some of his own cows’ leather to upholster several collections items.  Through rigorous use of the museum’s archives and object condition reports, I confirmed that DuPont, indeed, used a leather company in Newark, New Jersey to tan his leather for use in his collection.

NIAHD at William and Mary

In addition to my B.A. in history and linguistics, I also received a certificate in public history and material culture from the National Institute of American History and Democracy, a partnership program between the College of William & Mary and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.  The NIAHD program included classes taught at Colonial Williamsburg with input from the museum’s interpreters, allowing a first-hand look at how the museum researches, discusses, and handles its material culture.

Collections Intern at
Colonial Williamsburg

I aided Colonial Williamsburg’s Assistant Curator of Maps and Prints in researching, measuring, and cataloguing relevant collections objects for use in a new, interactive touchscreen system at the DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum.
